The Safe Food Handling Training Course


The Safe Food Handling Training Course for Student Nutrition Programs has been specifically developed for volunteers supporting breakfast, morning meals and lunch programs.

This program has been recognized by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to be acceptable at all school sites offering student nutrition programs.

The course consists of 3 sections:

  • Setting the Stage for Safe Food Handling
  • Food Handler Hygiene and Safe Operating Practices
  • Preparing Food Safely

The course includes several summary videos that help to reinforce some of the important concepts presented in the course. 

Exam questions are integrated right into the course after each section to help participants apply their knowledge as they progress through the material. There are 30 questions in total, 10 after each section. Participants will be required to achieve 8/10 correct answers after each section for an 80% passing mark to obtain certification. 

Participants successfully completing the course receive a certification wallet card that is valid for 5 years.
